There are 2 pathways in Elementary

Home Attendance School

Gifted Education is a pull-out program at the elementary level.  As a part of the gifted program, students in grades 3-5 will receive instruction in math and science. Math instruction will include approximately 45-60 minutes of instruction per week with Science being approximately 60-75 minutes of instruction per week.  The goal will be to pull the student during independent work time to avoid missing grade-level instruction in the core content areas. Knowing this isn’t always possible, the classroom teacher and gifted teacher will work together to create the best possible scenario for student learning.

Contact your home school for more information.

Challenge Center

The Challenge Center is located at Robert Frost Elementary. It is a program for highly gifted 2nd through 5th-grade students.

This is a unique school within the Sioux Falls School District that was developed to meet the needs of high-ability students from across the district by providing an accelerated and enriched curriculum in an inclusive, full-day program. A modified, advanced curriculum keeps students engaged, while they develop a growth mindset and get prepared for the options of the Middle School Gifted Program and advanced classes there.

Our mission is to challenge the high-ability students we serve to become well-rounded independent learners. We have established a flexible curriculum based on state standards, best research-based practice, gifted education standards of the National Association of Gifted Children, and student interests.
