Festival of Bands is back for its 35th annual competition this Saturday, October 1, 2022! The Festival is an exciting day with over forty bands from South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota competing for honors in a variety of areas. The Sioux Falls School District public high schools, along with O’Gorman, will be performing, and we invite you to join in on the fun!
The Festival of Bands USA Committee consists of over 30+ volunteer members and spends more than half a year putting together the elements that make the competition a success. The committee members are supported by over 400 parent volunteers from the Sioux Falls Community who coordinate the day’s events, which includes 5k students and close to 10k spectators who come to cheer the bands on!
The parade will begin promptly at 8 am Saturday morning. A total of 31 bands from across the area will be marching in the parade. Following that, 25 bands will take part in the Preliminary Field Competition at Howard Wood Field, with gates opening at 8:45 am, and the competition starting at 9:45 am.
Admission to the parade is free. Admission to the Field competitions is $15 for adults, $10 for students, and children aged five and under are free. You can purchase tickets in advance at all Lewis Drug locations in Sioux Falls and Brandon, or you can buy them the day of at the Parade and Howard Wood Field.
